            We prioritize enhancing indoor air quality with our state-of-the-art “Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems.” These advanced units integrate four essential functions—air conditioning, ventilation, air purification, and humidity control—into a single, energy-efficient solution. Developed in Switzerland by a leading Passive House Institute research organization, our ERV systems use precise calculations and measurement tools to ensure optimal air circulation and minimize harmful pollutant accumulation.

Optimizing Building Design for Energy Efficiency

                  Typically, air conditioning systems consume more than 50% of a building’s energy. If we bring in a lot of outside air, energy consumption increases even more.

The first thing to address is to design the building to minimize the amount of heat entering from the outside. Think of it like building a refrigerator—if less heat comes in, the inside stays cooler, similar to having the air conditioning set at 27-28 degrees Celsius.

The second issue is the choice of construction materials, particularly heat-conductive materials like walls and materials that transmit infrared and UV rays, such as glass. We have tested and collected data from the creation of our experimental rooms to determine which materials allow the least amount of heat transfer.

The third issue is ensuring that the construction process has no leaks whatsoever. According to the laws of physics, if there are leaks, heat will seek out cooler areas and cool air will escape, leading to a 10-20% increase in energy consumption. Additionally, leaks can allow dust, smoke, and bacteria to enter the building, which can lead to headaches over time. Excessive moisture accumulation can also lead to sinus issues and skin conditions. Therefore, we use HEPA filters to trap PM2.5 dust, pollen, viruses, and bacteria.

                 That is why Leo International Design seeks out new technologies with scientifically proven results for air quality control to incorporate into building designs.
